VDM Stages Midnight Protest at Air Force Base After Returning From China, Slams Tinubu Government

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM (VeryDarkMan), staged a late-night protest shortly after arriving in Nigeria from China.

The activist, who reportedly headed straight to an Air Force facility upon landing in Abuja, used the protest to draw attention to the growing insecurity in the country, particularly the kidnapping of schoolchildren and other citizens by bandits.

In a post shared on his social media pages, VDM questioned the effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force despite its proposed 2026 budget allocation.

“The budget of the Nigerian Air Force for 2026 is N400 billion. If they can’t keep bandits away, then they are the bandits,” he wrote.

During the protest, VDM was seen wearing a shirt bearing the inscriptions: “Tinubu Has Failed Nigerians” and “Bring Back Our Children.”

The demonstration comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity in several parts of the country, with many Nigerians calling on security agencies and the federal government to intensify efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Nigerian Air Force regarding VDM’s protest or his comments on the agency’s budget.
