Trump Claims U.S. Strikes Caused Over $1 Trillion Damage to Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that American military strikes and bombings inflicted more than $1 trillion worth of damage on Iran, warning that it could take the country between 15 and 20 years to rebuild. Trump’s estimate follows earlier claims that U.S.-Israeli operations had set Iran’s military and strategic capabilities back by decades.
Speaking on the aftermath of the conflict, Trump said the scale of destruction would force Iran to focus on reconstruction for years to come.
“It’ll take them 15 to 20 years to rebuild. So they have to behave themselves. If they’re not behaving, they get hit again,” Trump said. Similar timelines have been cited by Trump in previous remarks about the impact of the military campaign.
The U.S. president also stated that Washington would not provide financial assistance for Iran’s reconstruction, despite ongoing discussions surrounding a broader peace arrangement in the region.
Trump’s comments come days after he announced the completion of a U.S.-Iran agreement aimed at ending hostilities and restoring stability to the Middle East. The agreement includes measures affecting maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional security arrangements.
