Breaking: Netanyahu Distances Himself From Trump’s Iran Deal, Says ‘We Have Our Own Interests’

Trump and Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that he does not fully share responsibility for the recently announced U.S.-Iran agreement, describing it as a decision led by U.S. President Donald Trump while emphasizing that Israel will continue to pursue its own security interests.

Speaking on the deal, Netanyahu said the agreement was made by the United States and that Trump believes it can achieve both supervision and the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program.

According to him, while he expressed his views during discussions with the U.S. president, the decision ultimately belongs to Trump.

“This agreement was made by the United States, by the President of the United States, and he believes that he can achieve both supervision and the dismantling of the nuclear program,” Netanyahu said.

“I said: that is his decision. I repeat: that is his decision. He is leading it.”

The Israeli leader, however, stressed that Israel remains focused on protecting its own national interests and security concerns.

“On the other hand, I said that we have our own interests,” he added.

Netanyahu’s remarks come amid growing debate in Israel over the agreement announced by Trump, who recently declared that a deal with Iran had been completed and that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to global shipping. Reports indicate that some Israeli officials and political figures have expressed reservations about aspects of the agreement, particularly regarding regional security and Iran’s future capabilities.

The comments suggest that while Israel remains a close ally of the United States, differences may exist over the implementation and long-term implications of the emerging U.S.-Iran arrangement.
